Ozlem Akin is a multimedia artist and sculptor from Turkey, based in Prague. Formally trained as a filmmaker, she has won several prestigious awards including The Golden Orange with her first film “Gemeinschaft”. As a self-taught sculptor focusing primarily on small sculptures, she experiments with diverse media to explore the connections between physical and mental fragility, mortality and individual and collective unrest. With surrealistic humour, she draws inspiration from a number of sources such as contemporary politics, the history of medicine, museological practices and cabinets of curiosities.
